My original folk project Portiia just released a video for our instrumental cover of Major Lazer's "Lean On".
Had the privilege of opening up for Hanson with Mathew V for a sold-out show at the Vouge Theatre.
Mathew V releases a new music video for his new song "Tell Me Smoth"
Feeling really excited about the new album I just finished recording with Producer Dave Meszaros (Holding Banjo), Dave Barber on Guitar, Kirby Barber on Bass, Jocelyn Pettit on Fiddle and Niles Lowen on Cello.
Thank you 2016 for all the amazing opportunities.
For those of you who maybe don't know the "Underneath The Harlem Moon Cabaret" is a monthly music series that happens at Guilt & Co located in Gastown, (Vancouver B.C.) UTHM was an idea crafted by Krystle Dos Santos that would aim to build community amongst the local Soul and R&B scene, by featuring a rotating cast of singers and featured instrumentalist every month.
The Stevie Wonder Cabaret was one of the most successful nights featuring a 3 piece horn section, 4 piece band and an array of talented vocalists including Dawn Pemberton, D'arcy Han, Aadin Church, Tiffany Riveria, Garfield Wilson, Hal Wesley Rogers, Krystle Dos Santos and more.
I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to make music with such beautiful souls and talented people.
Had the opportunity to record and perform a live version of an original instrumental folk song called "Woodland". Featured in this video are my very talented friends Dave Barber on guitar and Kirby Barber on the upright bass.
Had the privilege of doing an interview with Danielle Dzioba of Red On Black Music. I discuss life as a session player and what it takes to be a working musician,(or at least what works for me)
You can check out the interview at http://www.redonblackmusic.com/interview-session-guitarist-michael-meroniuk/
What a great way to end the year! Nothing better than hanging out in the new Echo Planet Studios, working on some new music with amazing songstress Sophia Danai. Excited to release this new music in 2017.
This past summer I was fortunate enough to play well over 40 shows, and to take part in a Western Canadian tour with folk singer/songwriter Greg Drummond.
